Obituary for A. Joyce Luther
A. JOYCE LUTHER, 84, of Windsor Manor in Morrison, IL, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Windsor Manor. Joyce was born August 25, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to Karl J. and Alice W. (Wilkens) Bush. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She received her Bachelor"s Degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Joyce married Theodore A. Luther on December 21, 1951, in Morrison, IL. She was first employed as an elementary school teacher in the Sterling, IL school district. She later taught in the Morrison Grade Schools for 32 years, retiring in 1989. Joyce was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison where she served as a Bible School teacher. She was a member of both Illinois and Morrison Education Associations. Joyce enjoyed golfing and traveling especially ocean cruises. Survivors include her husband, Theodore "Ted"; one daughter, Kim (David) Oostendorp of Dubuque, IA; three sons, Tim (Melissa) Luther of Carlsbad, CA; Keith (Kristen) Luther of Naperville, IL; and Kevin (Cindy) Luther of Rockford, IL; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Alex) Cachaldora, Alison (Rob) Randall, Ryan and Nicole Oostendorp; Courtney and Chloe Luther; Morgan and Chase Luther; one great-grandson, Theodore Alejandro Cachaldora; one sister, Marilyn Vos of Morrison, IL; two brothers, K. Dale (Cathy) Bush of Huntington Beach, CA and Jerry Bush of Carlsbad, CA; one sister-in-law, Vicki Bush of Coto de Caza, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Phillip Bush.
