Her memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Memorial Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Ken Renkes will officiate. Interment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery in Morrison. Gayle was born March 4, 1942, in Sterling, IL, to Harry H. and Elaine K. (Marcellus) Horning. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. Gayle married Kenneth R. Beswick on April 11, 1959, in Anamosa, IA. She farmed along with her husband in the Erie, IL, area from 1963 until 2017. Gayle was a member of 4-H and Girl Scouts growing up. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Morrison United Methodist Church, the church’s Path Finders, Erie United Methodist Church, and the church’s Couples Club. Gayle served as Newton Township Election Judge and was a member of the Erie Red Hat Society and Blue Parrot Resort Red Hat Society. Gayle enjoyed gardening, spending time at her cabin on the Mississippi River, and traveling the United States and abroad. She and Ken also hosted two foreign exchange students. Gayle was a bird enthusiast, whether on the farm, at the river, or wintering at Blue Parrot Resort in Lady Lake, FL, where she also played shuffleboard, winning many tournaments. One of her great joys was baking with her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, Ken; two sons, Rick (Paula) Beswick of Bozeman, MT and Mitch Beswick of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Diane (Jeff) Vail of Palatine, IL and Lori (Kevin) Clark of Long Grove, IL; nine grandchildren: Haley Vail of Clearwater, FL; Sydney (Colton) Crayne of Greer, SC; Brianna Beswick of Anchorage, AK; Spencer Beswick of Ithaca, NY; Christian Vail of Arlington Heights, IL; Caleb Vail of Palatine, IL; Jackson, James, and Jayson Clark of Long Grove, IL; and two great-grandchildren: Violet Vail DeBaker and Elijah Crayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Following the graveside service, everyone is welcome to join the family for lunch at the Odell Public Library Community Room at 307 S. Madison Street in Morrison.
