Obituary for Yvonne Ruth Burkholder
YVONNE RUTH BURKHOLDER, 88, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, January 25, 2024 at her home in Morrison.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by a visitation starting at 9:30 AM. Rich Criss, Ministry Coordinator at Emmanuel Church in Morrison, will be officiating. Interment will be in West Genesee Cemetery in Coleta, IL. A memorial has been established to Gaffey Hospice, Sterling, IL.
Yvonne was born November 27, 1935, in Morrison, to Walter and Rena (Rose) Doorenbos. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools, and graduated from Morrison High School in 1953. On October 10, 1955 she married Dale A. Burkholder. He died December 31, 2006. Yvonne held a variety of jobs, including Volkmann’s Furniture and as a bookkeeper at Workman’s Plumbing & Heating. She was a helpmate to her husband on the farm and a homemaker, raising six children. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Jim) Morrison, of Omaha, NE and Deann (Rodney) Van Zuiden of Byron, IL; four sons, Dean (Alicia) Burkholder of Morrison, David (Lori) Burkholder of Charlotte, IA, Daryl (Laurie) Burkholder of LeClaire, IA and Daniel (Cyndi ) Burkholder of Bettendorf, IA; twelve grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Longanecker and Karen (Dewey) Mulnix, both of Morrison; one sister-in-law, Diana (Paul) Greiner of Portage, WI; one brother-in-law, Dennis (Arlene) Burkholder of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; her father and mother-in-law and a brother-in-law, Wayne Longanecker.
