Obituary for John W. VenHuizen
JOHN W. VENHUIZEN, 76, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.John was born January 4, 1941 in Morrison to Peter and Cornelia (Hamstra) VenHuizen. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1959 graduate of Morrison High School. On May 1961 he married Mary Jane Tichler in Morrison. She died December 13, 2013. John owned and operated VenHuizen Concrete Construction. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. John was an enthusiastic sports fan.Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Gabe) Gomez of Morrison; one son, Bob (Nadine) VenHuizen of Morrison; two grandchildren, Kayla (Jon) Bass and Sarah (fianc Ryan Wiersema) VenHuizen; faithful canine companion, Gunner.John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane; two sisters, Jane Hudson and Grace Dykstra; one brother, Fred VenHuizen.
