Obituary for Barbara J. Housinga
BARBARA J. HOUSINGA, 68, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home. Barb was born December 1, 1947, in Sterling, IL, to John M. and June L. (Hunsberger) Friel. She was educated in the Rock Falls, IL grade schools and graduated from Rock Falls High School. She married Keith D. Housinga on October 8, 2004 in Morrison. Barb was employed in the health care industry. She was a member of the United States Trotting Association and the Illinois Harness Racing Association. Barb enjoyed horse training, gardening and planting flowers. Survivors include her husband, Keith; her mother, June Pries of Rock Falls, IL; two daughters, Chrissy (Doug) Leaf of Rock Falls, IL and Jennifer Lowry of Tampico, IL; three sons, Michael Abney of Las Vegas, NV; Don (Katie) Seydel of Lake of the Hills, IL and Dennis Seydel of Rockford, IL; two step daughters, Melissa (Mike) Landers of Park View, IA and Sara (Chris) Near of Rock Falls, IL; one step son, John (Jesse) Housinga of Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Heater of Rock Falls, IL and Shelley Nusbaum of Rock Falls, IL; one brother, Dennis (Judi) Friel of Dixon, IL. She was preceded in death by her father.
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation or memorial service. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
