Obituary for Robert H. Stephenson
ROBERT H. STEPHENSON, 49, of Rockford, IL, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at his home. Robert was born March 21, 1966, in Iowa City, IA, to Frederick E. "Fred" and Janice M. (Decker) Stephenson, Jr. He was educated in the St. Irenaeus Grade School in Clinton, IA and was a 1984 graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He married Mary M. Hiher on June 11, 1988 in Savanna, IL. Bob was employed as a financial director in the automotive industry for 25 years. He later became disabled due to medical issues. Robert was a member of St. Patrick"s Catholic Church in Rockford, IL and was an ordained acolyte. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus - Morrison Chapter. He was also an Eagle Scout. Bob attended Pope John Paul II"s funeral in Rome. While in Rome, he met future Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis I. Bob was the 1987 Western Illinois University Ping Pong Champion. He loved cooking and spending all his time with his daughters. Survivors include two daughters, Amanda (Dan) Berry of Kansas City, MO and Elizabeth Stephenson of Rockford, IL; two grandchildren, Noah and Alayna Berry; his mother, Janice Stephenson of Rockton, IL; three sisters, Renee (Buck) Brockway of Greenville, TX; Terri (Dave) Hansen of DeWitt, IA; and Mari (Mike) Cordua of Beaumont, CA; five brothers, Jeff (Mary) Stephenson of Clinton, IA; Bill (Kristi) Lyon of Janesville, WI; Steve (Sue) Kutcher of Denver, CO; Kevin Stephenson of Birch Bay, WA; and Brian (Dianne) Stephenson of Rockton, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Scott and Mark Stephenson.
