Obituary for Carl Oddo Giarrusso
CARL ODDO GIARRUSSO, 95, of 326 Tree Lane, Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home. Carl was born May 27, 1920, in Des Plaines, IL to Michael and Clara (Oddo) Giarrusso. He was educated in the Des Plaines Grade School and was a graduate of Main East High School in Park Ridge, IL. On November 11, 1944 he married Louise R. Czuj in Park Ridge. She died January 24, 2011. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Carl was first employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Des Plaines. He then worked as an accountant for Benjamin Electric in Des Plaines. He was a member of the Des Plaines American Legion and VFW, and also the Masonic Lodge in Des Plaines. Carl enjoyed a hobby of leather tooling. Survivors include one daughter, Antoinette "Toni" (Barry) Buck of Prophetstown; one son, Garrett (Gloria) Giarrusso of Mountainair, NM; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; one sister, Salvina Benjamin.
