Obituary for Genevieve B. Waldbusser
GENEVIEVE B. WALDBUSSER, 92, of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, May 30, 2015. Genevieve was born June 25, 1922, in Prophetstown, IL, to Edward W. and Bernice L. (Wachs) Specht. She was educated in Specht grade school of rural Henry County, attended Hooppole High School and was a 1940 graduate of Annawan High School in Annawan, IL. Genevieve attended Northern Illinois Teachers College and continued her education and received a bachelor"s degree. She married Frederick G. "Fritz" Waldbusser on January 29, 1949, in Moline, IL. He died February 17, 1996. Genevieve was employed as a teacher in the rural school system prior to her marriage. Following marriage, she operated, along with her late husband, Fritz"s DX Restaurant and Truck Stop. She later returned to teaching in the Prophetstown area and retired from Prophetstown Elementary School, retiring after 25 years of teaching. Genevieve was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church in Prophetstown and the church"s United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, National Retired Teachers Association, Hooppole American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sterling Moose. Genevieve enjoyed traveling, crocheting, various crafts, dancing, playing bridge, and gardening. Her main joy was being with family. Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Waldbusser of Prophetstown, IL; one son-in-law, John Buck of Markesan, WI; two grandchildren, Amy (Jason) Pundsack and Nathan (Tana) Buck; three great-grandchildren, Alaina, Evan, and Grant Pundsack; and an A.F.S. daughter, Margarete Campoy of Zionsville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick; one daughter, Nancy Buck; two sisters, Rosina Lindahl and Ruth Heller; three brothers, John Specht, Paul Specht, and Dr. William Specht.
