Obituary for Amy Jean Weber-Olmstead
AMY JEAN WEBER-OLMSTEAD, 94, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Center. Amy was born March 5, 1919, in Erie, IL, to George and Laura (Young) Turner. She was educated in the Erie and East Moline, IL schools. She married Paul R. Weber, Sr. on June 5, 1938, in East Moline, IL. He died April 16, 1971. She later married Jack E. Olmstead on November 23, 1974, in Prophetstown, IL. He died June 19, 2004. Amy managed the snack bar at the Prophetstown Bowling Alley and later owned and operated the Donut Shop Restaurant in Prophetstown until retirement. She was a member of Leon United Methodist Church, was Past President of the Leon United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School for many years, and sang in and directed the church choir. She was Past President of Whiteside County Home Extension, member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Morning Star Chapter in Tampico, IL, and member and Past President of the Prophetstown Lions Club. Amy enjoyed life to its fullest and dearly loved the employees of the Good Samaritan Center. Survivors include one son, Paul (Karen) Weber, Jr. of Clinton, IA; two grandsons, Brian (Amy) Weber of Derby, KS and Bradley (KaCee) Weber of Camanche, IA; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, and Brianna Weber; Tanner, Dalton and Annika Weber; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Paul and Jack; one great-grandson, Garrett Weber; three sisters, Iona Schnack, Ruby Wilhoit, and Sarah Rasmussen; one brother, Ralph Turner.
