Obituary for Marguerite J. Bowers
MARGUERITE J. BOWERS, 104, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the center. Marguerite was born July 22, 1907 in Pickford, MI, to George and Eliza (Smith) Stirling. She was educated in the Pickford, MI grade schools and graduated from Pickford High School. Marguerite married Edwin A. Bowers on January 1, 1931 in Pickford, MI. He died May 30, 1994. Marguerite was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She was a member of First Congregational Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star both in Prophetstown. Survivors include one son, Stirling Bowers of Prophetstown, IL; two grandsons, Neil S. (Lynn) Bowers and Paul W. Bowers both of California; four great grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Andrew and Andrea Bowers; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; three sisters, Marie Bumstead, Ada Wallis, and Freda Korman; and one brother, Herman Stirling.
