Obituary for Clara A. Edmunds
CLARA A. EDMUNDS, 85, of rural Fulton, IL, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL. Clara was born May 19, 1926, in LaSpezia, Italy, to Giovanni and Carmela (Sergi) Carrese. She graduated from high school in Italy, earning her teaching certificate. She married Ira Richard Edmunds on October 26, 1946 in Italy. He died January 17, 1969. Clara was employed as a cook for the former Clinton Retirement Village for 21 years. Prior to that she was a cook at the former Mount St. Clare College in Clinton. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, where she participated in the Altar and Rosary Societies. Survivors include one daughter, Carmen (Isaac) Burns of Pittsburg, CA; one son, Robert Edmunds of Fulton, IL; six grandchildren, John E. (Maria) Edmunds II, Robert R. (Roma) Edmunds Jr. Chavez, Nicole Burns, Nicholas Burns, Ashley Burns, Angelina (Darrell) Jones; fourteen great grandchildren, Kylie Caruso-Chavez, Kyana, Cody and Kaycie Chavez, Dusjon, Davontae and DaMarlo Edmunds, Gabriel, Elijah, Jesus, Nilson and Mario Edmunds, Braxton and Brayden Jones; one great great granddaughter, Desiriya; one brother, Robert (Enrica) Carrese, Italy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira; one son, John Edmunds; one great grandson, KyVan Chavez, one brother, Oswald Carrese.
