Obituary for Vada I. Drury
VADA I. DRURY, 97, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, formerly of Albany, IL, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the nursing home. Vada was born on June 12, 1912 in Albany, IL to John I. and Lucile B. (Barnett) Graham. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Lawrence E. Drury on October 14, 1936 in Fenton, IL. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1968. Vada was employed by the former Albany Telephone Company and the A.C. Nielsen Coupon Clearing House in Clinton, IA. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and was also a member and officer of the church"s Willing Workers and Friendly Circle. She also served as a Sunday School teacher. Vada was a member of the Morrison Wa-Tan-Ye Club and the Morrison Golden Meals. She enjoyed crocheting. Survivors include two daughters, Beth (Ronald) Poling of Morrison, IL and Susan (Richard) Green of Maquoketa, IA; two sons, Larry E. (Linda) Drury of Niles, MI and Ross (Kim) Drury of Lake in the Hills, IL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Isabel Drury of Clinton, IA; one brother-in-law, Delbert Slaymaker of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; one great grandson, Austin Watkins; one sister, Pearl Slaymaker; two brothers, Leroy Graham and Everett Graham.
