Obituary for Glen Francis
GLEN A. FRANCIS, 77, of 19670 Moline Road, Lyndon, IL, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. Glen was born August 15, 1929 in Denrock, IL to Harry and Vallie M. (Hahn) Francis. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Lyndon High School, Lyndon, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Glen married Patricia J. Chamberlain on February 6, 1954 in Lyndon, IL. He was engaged in farming in the Prophetstown/Lyndon area his entire life and had been a salesman for Golden Harvest seed corn. Glen was a member of Lyndon Congregational Church in Lyndon, was a member of the Board of Directors of Whiteside F.S., and had served as 4-H leader for the Lyndon Loyal Leaders. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Kathy (Mrs. Steve) Ufkin of Lyndon, IL; two sons, Michael (Corrine) Francis of Deer Grove, IL and Russell (Kay) Francis of Lyndon, IL; eight grandchildren, Jay Ufkin, Alexis (Mrs. Ivan) Socava; Rachel Francis, Riley Francis, Michelle (Mrs. Dan) Link, Meagan Gorman and Bart Dirks, Jake Francis, and Ellie Francis; two great grandchildren, Christopher and Charlie Link. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Ufkin; five sisters, Mildred Hansen, Anna Heath, Edna Olson, Violet Vittitow, and Velma Klockenga; two brothers, Floyd and Kenneth Francis.
