Obituary for Mary Jane Heller
MARY JANE HELLER, 86, of 701 13th Avenue, Fulton, IL, formerly of Morrison, IL, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehab Center in Clinton, IA. Mary Jane was born July 3, 1920 to Frank and May (Drane) Reitzel on the family farm in Jordan Township, IL. She attended Science Ridge School and graduated from Sterling High School in 1938. She grew up on a dairy farm, milked Jersey cows, raised several breeds of chickens and showed them at the Whiteside County Fair. She married Robert "Bob" Heller on her birthday, July 3, 1946 in Sterling. He died Sept. 18, 1998. Mary Jane lived in Morrison on the Garden Plain Road for 47 years, and moved to Fulton following her husband"s death. She worked for G.E. in Morrison for 18 " years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, the church"s United Methodist Women and the Good Morning Circle. She was attending Bible study classes at Second Reformed Church in Fulton. She had led the Morrison Mixers 4-H Club for 18 years and was a member of the Morrison Camera Club. She had served as secretary of the local AARP, enjoyed gardening, was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She loved reading, journaling, genealogy, and history. She wrote and sent cards and letters every day and loved to receive mail. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Bradford of Franklin Park, IL and Patti (Kenny) Damhoff of Fulton, IL; two sons, James (Danice) Heller of El Paso, TX and Terry Heller of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Tom Stemp, Jonathon Bradford, Jake Heller, Jeff, Brian and Billy Damhoff; one sister, Margie Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; two brothers, Jim and George Reitzel.
