Obituary for Robert L. Patten
ROBERT L. PATTEN, 73, of 205 Maple Avenue, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Bob was born October 8, 1933, in Sterling, IL, to Lester J. and Alta (Kraft) Patten. He was educated in the Galt, IL grade schools and graduated from Rock Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army and then went on to complete a tool and die apprenticeship program at the General Electric Company. He married Susan J. Howe on June 17, 1956 in Sterling, IL. Bob worked as a tool and die maker at G.E. in Morrison, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church. He was a member and served as vice president of the Morrison area AARP. He belonged to the Quad City Times Plus 60 Club, American Legion Post 296 of Sterling, and the Sterling Moose Lodge. He was a member and past president of the Morrison Lions Club, and he was a member and past Grand Master of the Morrison Masonic Lodge, Dunlap Chapter. He was a member of the General Electric Athletic Association and had served on the loan committee at the Advantage One Credit Union. Survivors include his wife, Susan; one daughter, Krista (Mrs. Steve) Wanzong of Madison, WI; four sons, Jim (Deby) Patten of Belleville, IL, Thomas (Susannah) Patten of Morrison, IL, Steven (Jaclyn) Patten of Rock Falls, IL, Mike (Deane) Patten of Morrison, IL; seven grandchildren, Jamae (Thomas) Nichols, Charles Patten, Samantha Nye, Christopher Nye, Kyle Patten, Alyssa Patten, Grace Wanzong; one great grandchild, Naelyn Nichols; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Olson of Camp Douglas, WI and Mrs. Mary Jane Chidester of Las Vegas, NV; four brothers, Melvin (Irene) Patten of New Port Richey, FL, Gerald (Lorraine) Patten of Sterling, IL, Warren (Eva Jane) Patten of Rock Falls, IL, Tommy (Janice) Patten of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jessie Lindley.
