Obituary for Stanley Bielema
STANLEY BIELEMA, 80, of 1200 8th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at his home. Stan was born June 18, 1926 in Fulton, IL, to Clarence and Anna (Balk) Bielema. He was educated in the rural Carroll County grade schools and was a graduate of Thomson High School in Thomson, IL. He attended Central Christian College in Pella, IA. Stan married Marjorie Juist on May 11, 1948 in Fulton. He first farmed for several years. Later he owned and operated Bielema Oil Company in Fulton for many years. Most recently, he owned and operated Blackboard Maintenance Company in Fulton until retiring. Stan was a former member of Spring Valley Reformed Church " rural Fulton, the church"s Men"s Brotherhood and had served as an elder and deacon. He currently was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, the church"s Men"s Brotherhood and had served as an elder. He was a member of Fulton Kiwanis Club. He was secretary of the Fulton Fire Department and had served as a trustee for 35 years. He also served as trustee and Fulton Township Supervisor for many years. He was a past member of the board of directors of the Riverbend School District, Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton Township Cemetery, Words of Hope Ministry, and Camp Manitoqua Christian Day Camp in Frankfort, IL. He was a thirty year charter member of Fulton Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing with his grandchildren, and many happy hours of playing cards with friends and family.Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Connie (Mrs. Rick) Van Heukelom of Grand Haven, MI and Lori (Mrs. Robert) VanZuiden of Morrison, IL; five grandchildren, Amy Van Heukelom; Kim (Mrs. Dave) McDonough; Nathan, Ryan, and Krista VanZuiden; two sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Bob) Venema of Fulton and Esther (Mrs. Dick) Ebbers of Morrison; one brother, Kenneth Bielema of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Howard Bielema.
