Obituary for Oliver D. Walters
OLIVER D. "SONNY" WALTERS, 64, of Albany, IL, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Sonny was born May 25, 1941, at home in rural Freeport, IL, to Oliver A. and Iona (Ballard) Walters. He married Mary Schroeder Staas on November 22, 1975 in Morrison, IL. He engaged in farming and then worked at John Deere Harvester in East Moline, IL for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Survivors include his wife Mary; two daughters, Tamra (Bill Wall) Walters of Bettendorf, IA and Kathy (Randy) Green of Rock Island, IL; two step daughters, Laura (Steve) Hammond of Clinton, IA; LeAnne (Jim Mennenga) Leffler of Fulton, IL; two sons, David (Judy Miles) Walters of East Moline, IL and Todd Walters of Rock Island, IL; nine grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, one great grandson, five step great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys (Ted) Wilcox of Moline, IL and Kathryn (Lee) Scudder of Baileyville, IL; a special uncle and aunt, Paul and Marion Walters of Freeport, IL; a special cousin, John (Karlene) Walters of Fenton, IL. He is also survived by a number of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Walters; one step daughter, Leah Staas; one step grandson, Adam Leffler.
