NANCY DIETZ, 70, of Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis, IL.
Her memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown with Rev. Isaac Newman, pastor of Yorktown Church of Christ officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:30 PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials have been established to Yorktown Church of Christ and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Nancy was born January 30, 1952, in Moline, IL, to Cecil and M. Louise (Ruhnow) Simpson. She was educated in the Center Hill Grade School in rural Carroll County and was a graduate of Mt. Carroll High School. She then graduated from Rockford College in Rockford, IL. She met Bob Dietz in 1968 and they were married on March 28, 1971, in Mt. Carroll, IL. Nancy was employed at Elkay in Lanark, IL. She then drove a bus for the Prophetstown School District for 12 years and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Yorktown Church of Christ where she held many different offices and took care of her church’s ground. Nancy was an avid woodworker and gardener. She also liked to sew, bake and can her own vegetables. Nancy enjoyed providing for her family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; two daughters, Becky (Mike) Hodgett of Tampico, IL and Mandy (John) Atkinson of Prophetstown, IL; two sons, Buddy (Tina) Dietz of Prophetstown, IL and Gabe (Jamie) Dietz of Tampico, IL; six grandchildren, Michaela (Matthew) Gehn, Shelby Hodgett, Sammy Hodgett, Will Atkinson, Jake Atkinson and Ben Atkinson; two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Carter Gehn; three sisters, Sandra (Sam) Haas of Elizabeth, IL, Linda (Larry) Edwards of Pearl City, IL and Judy (Albert) Roybal of Salt Lake City, UT; three brothers, Don (Mary Beth) Simpson of Geneseo, IL, Larry (Delores) Simpson of Manito, IL and Dale (Barb) Simpson of Freeport, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
