Obituary for Mary "Dit" Ida Engelkens
MARY “DIT” IDA ENGELKENS, 92, of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA.
Her funeral service will be 6:00 PM Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home preceded by visitation from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Due to current state restrictions, only 50 individuals are allowed in the funeral home and social distancing and face mask guidelines will be followed. Rev. Dick Adams, pastor of First Baptist Church will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded and interment will take place at Fulton Township Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established by the family for a grave marker.
Mary was born November 28, 1927, in Clinton, IA, to Irwin J. and Ada Katherine (Baker) Frank. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. Mary married Ikey “Bill” Engelkens on August 8, 1944, in Morrison, IL. He died January 3, 2014. Mary was a homemaker. She also was an over the road trucker, traveling and driving semi’s with her husband. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morrison, IL where she was a member of the choir. She enjoyed needlework including crocheting and enjoyed watching TV.
Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Johnson of Fulton; three sons, Robert (Susan) Engelkens and Donald (Karen) Engelkens both of Fulton and Paul (Cathy Reinders) Engelkens of Fenton, IL; many grandchildren; many many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Weltzin of Morrison and one son-in-law, Frank Ernie Lilly of Fulton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Joyce Lilly; and one son-in-law, William Johnson.
