Obituary for William R. Vos
WILLIAM R. "BILL" VOS, 74, of 701 Glenwood Drive, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at his home. Bill was born November 4, 1932 in Morrison to Ernest and Gertrude (Wiebenga) Vos. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and attended Morrison High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Bill married Darlene M. Hartman on May 3, 1953 in Savanna, IL. He was employed by the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL for 30 years. Following that, he worked as a bailiff for the Whiteside County Sheriff"s Department for 12 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the Morrison VFW Post #8281. He served as a member of the Morrison Fire Department for 25 years. Bill enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; four daughters, Pam (Mrs. Steve) Workman of Sterling, IL; Sherri (Mrs. Roger) Rushmeyer of Holland, MI; Risa (Mrs. Jeff) Weets of Morrison, IL; and Pat (Mrs. Randy) Stuart of Avon, CT; seven grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie Lyons) Workman, Amy (Mrs. Jason) Gullickson, Josh and Derek Rushmeyer, Katie, Sarah, and Emily Weets; one great grandson, Kaleb Workman; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Venhuizen of Valley City, ND. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Vos.
