Obituary for William E. Blair Sr.
WILLIAM E. BLAIR, Sr., 80, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Monday, September 6, 2010 at the nursing home. William was born June 10, 1930 in Thomson, IL, to Joseph E. and Rachel D. (Bennett) Blair. He was educated in the Thomson grade schools and attended Thomson High School. He married Joyce E. Scudder on May 13, 1950 in Morrison, IL. She died June 20, 1989. Bill drove semi for Volckman Furniture and later worked at Herman Nelson both in Morrison. He most recently worked as a group leader, known as "Mr. Bill, at General Electric in Morrison for many years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed bingo, woodworking, playing cards, and going on day trips. Survivors include two sons, William E. (Dolly) Blair, Jr. of Sterling, IL and Steven Blair of Morrison, IL; three daughters, Vicki Blair of Maquoketa, IA; Kristine (Ron) DeWitte of Lyndon, IL; and Jennie (Randy) Howell of Rockford, IL; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Johnson of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; five sisters, Neoma Smith, Dorothy Bennett, Ruth Ballard, Betty Fellows, and Margaret Blair in infancy; two brothers, Jim and Paul "Bud" Blair.
