Obituary for Warren P. Petersen
WARREN P. PETERSEN, 76, of 510 Jenkran, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Warren was born November 2, 1935 in Morrison, IL to Russel B. and Theresa (Vos) Petersen. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1953 graduate of Morrison High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He first married Ida Marie Kennard in 1958 in Morrison. His second marriage was to Anne M. (Revelly) Martin on February 11, 1977 in Morrison. Warren was first employed by Rock River Lumber and Grain in Prophetstown, IL. He then was a bulk fuel truck driver for Gibson Oil Company in Lyndon, IL and later the Standard Oil Company in Prophetstown, IL. He later sold insurance. He then worked for General Electric in Morrison, Stralow Trucking in Morrison and most recently as a truck driver for Wiersema Trucking in Rock Falls, IL, retiring in 2001. Warren was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, Prophetstown Fire Department, Prophet Hills Country Club, and Morrison American Legion Post #328, where he served as Post Commander. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan. Survivors include his wife, Anne; one daughter, Beth (Mike Specht) Petersen of Prophetstown, IL; one stepdaughter, Patti (Dave) Austin of Riverton, IL; two sons, Paul (Gwen Scott) Petersen of Prophetstown, IL and Corey (Lorrie) Petersen of Kirkland, WA; one stepson, Gary (Thessy Wincent) Martin of Munich, Germany; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Russell P. Petersen; and one sister, Susan Heaton.
