Obituary for Virginia Burns
VIRGINIA BURNS, 92, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL formerly of Fenton, IL, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Nursing Home. Virginia was born May 9, 1918 in Milwaukee, WI, to Paul J. and Clara (Michaelski) Ramthun. She attended grade school and two years of high school in Oconomowoc, WI. She then moved to Milwaukee, finished high school and graduated from Milwaukee State Teacher"s College as an accredited art supervisor and teacher. She taught in Hartland and Watertown, WI as an art supervisor until the start of WWII. She entered the Air Corps as a civilian instructor, teaching radar to sailors at Truax Field near Madison, WI. Virginia married Valentine Buestrin in 1945. He died in 1953. She then married Fred Richardson in 1961. He died in 1975. Her third marriage was to Donald Burns in 1977. He died in 1983. In 1977, she moved to Fenton, IL and after a lifelong membership in the Lutheran Church, she entered the Methodist congregation in Fenton. She believed that no matter what our time or place in life, we can always serve God. Virginia said, "I have never lost my love for God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This I have tried to do all of my life regardless of whom I lived with or their beliefs. I am a United Methodist now and have belonged to the United Methodist Church since 1977." She helped in art work and teaching. Virginia never had any children, but has many relatives from each of her marriages. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary Burns-Pilgrim of Colorado; special friends, Rick and Valerie Hillyer of Virginia; Jack and Kathe Burns of Fenton, IL; Mark and Jerry Beihl of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Valentine, Fred, and Donald; one sister, Bernice B. Wechselberg; and a brother-in-law, John Wechselberg.
