Obituary for Vincent Hoogheem
Vince was born on April 21, 1928, in Fulton Illinois to Jay and Anna (Heun) Hoogheem. He died on August 27, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf Iowa.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family burial service will be held later. Memorial gifts made be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or a charitable organization of your choosing. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He attended Fulton Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1946.
Vince married Wilma (Fiet) Hoogheem on August 4, 1948. She died on May 8, 2020. Vince and Wilma raised three children: Gregory (deceased), David (Pam) Hoogheem of Bettendorf Iowa and Gayle (Richard) Farrar of Davenport Iowa. Vince has two grandchildren: Andrew (Kora Smith) of Davenport Iowa and Allison (Matt) Kampmueller of Grand Rapids Michigan.
Vince’s great grandchildren are Simone and Lucie Hoogheem, and Charlie and Annalise Kampmueller.
Vince is also survived by one brother: LaVerne (Pat) Hoogheem of Ankeny Iowa.
Vince was employed as a Master Technician at McEleney Motors in Clinton Iowa for more than 30 years and was Assistant Service Manager at the time he retired in 1990. He enjoyed fishing and gardening in his leisure time.
He was a lifetime member of First Reformed Church in Fulton and served as both deacon and elder. He was a longtime member of the church choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife (Wilma) and son (Gregory), and four siblings (Edward, Arthur, Lawrence and Irene (Kramer)).
