Obituary for Vernon L. Schroeder
VERNON L. SCHROEDER, 72, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL. Vernon was born January 9, 1938 in Morrison, IL, to Wilmer C. and Fannie (Vos) Schroeder. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1956. Vernon was employed by the Morrison Post Office as a mail carrier for thirty-five years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. He loved fishing, bowling, and was a member of the Ebenezer Church bowling league for many years. Vernon enjoyed raising rabbits and sheep and entering them into county and state fairs. Survivors include two nieces, Dawn (Steve) Kerber of Rock Falls, IL and Deborah (Pat) Ludwig of Farley, IA; one nephew, Mark (Mia) Near of Sterling, IL; ten great nieces and nephews, Kalen and Josh Kerber; Anthony, Hillary, Nathan, Quentin, and Hannah Ludwig; Christopher (Sara) Near, Amanda, and Kobe Near; one brother-in-law, Robert E. Near of Sterling, IL and good friends, Ron and Louise Wiersema of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vera Near and one in infancy.
