Obituary for Vera L. Hamstra
VERA L. HAMSTRA, 83, of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, with Ken Renkes officiating. There will be no visitation; cremation rites have been accorded. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial to Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison has been established.
Vera was born March 21, 1937 in Morrison to Bert and Sylvia (Housinga) Vos. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. Vera was first employed by the former Climco in Morrison. Later she worked as a school bus driver for the Prophetstown – Lyndon School District. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Vera enjoyed playing tennis, golf, cards and marbles. She loved being outdoors, especially gardening.
Survivors include one daughter, Marsha Hamstra, of Wickliffe, OH; four sons, all of Prophetstown: Kevin (Barb) Hamstra, Gregg (Tamara) Hamstra, Brad Hamstra, and Arlyn (Lisa) Hamstra; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Dale) Bull of Fulton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Larry Vos.
