Obituary for Thomas J. Cullinan Sr.
THOMAS J. "SONNY" CULLINAN, SR., 90, of Albany, IL, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton, IA. Tom was born December 12, 1922, in Dillon Township, IL, to Lawrence and Margaret (Thaller) Cullinan. He was educated in the Delavan Grade Schools and was a graduate of Delavan High School in Delavan, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Tom married Doris J. McGoy on June 8, 1946, in Louisville, KY. She died December 18, 1991. Tom was employed as a truck driver by FS in Cordova, IL for 36 years. Following retirement, he worked as a truck driver for Al"s Ag Service in Garden Plain, IL. Tom was a member of St. Patrick"s Catholic Church in Albany and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Albany American Legion Hanson/Kennedy Post #1079, Albany Lions Club, Albany Indian Mounds, Double II Antique Auto Club, and the Teamsters Union. Tom enjoyed attending antique car shows, tractor pulls, farm shows, and he was a NASCAR, Cubs, and Bears fan. Tom was still an active bowler at age 89. Sonny"s quick wit and wry sense of humor will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been on the receiving end. Survivors include three sons, Michael Cullinan of Frisco, CO; Joe (Roseanna Trevino) Cullinan of Morrison, IL; and Shawn (Jackie) Cullinan of Clinton, IA; seven grandchildren, Cayce (Caryn) Cullinan, Molly (Ron) Bureta, Carrie (Troy) Robertson, Layne Enlow, Jason (Karlee) Enlow, Joshua (Stasia) Cullinan, Jessica (Randy) Collender; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Doris Garman of Pekin, IL, Pat Smith of Pekin, IL, Kathleen (Walt) Iber of Metropolis, IL, and Mary Lou (Gerald) Bozart of Watkinsville, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; one son, Tony Cullinan; two brothers, Daniel Cullinan and Robert Cullinan.
