Obituary for Sylvia J. Hammond
SYLVIA J. HAMMOND, 76, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, AZ. Sylvia was born October 15, 1936, in Field, KY, to James F. and Cinderella (Haley) Baird. She was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. On May 28, 1955 she married Donald C. "Bud" Remrey in Fulton. He died January 10, 1987. She later married David R. "Butch" Hammond on December 21, 2002, in Morrison, IL. Sylvia was a homemaker and was later employed by Clinton Electric Motors Company, in Clinton, IA. She enjoyed reading and caring for her family and friends. She loved going to the casino with Joyce VonThun. Survivors include her husband, Butch Hammond, of Fulton, IL; three daughters, Patsy (Jack) Wright of Dixon, IL, Donna (John) Erkan of Mt. Morris, IL and Beth (Dan) VanKampen of Fulton, IL; one son, Steven (Mary Howes) Baird of Coralville, IA; one step-daughter, Tammy Wallace of Clinton, IA; two step-sons, James Hammond of Clinton, IA and Richard Hammond of Maquoketa, IA; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice Weller of Clinton, IA and Nan (Don) Loftus of Fulton, IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Donald "Bud" Remrey.
