Obituary for Stephen J. Benda Jr.
STEPHEN J. BENDA, JR., 77, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at his home. Stephen was born October 9, 1935, in Chicago, IL, to Stephen J. and Anna M. (Wolfe) Benda. He was educated in the Moose School in Chicago, IL. He married Astrid Nilssen on February 3, 1953 in Chicago, IL. She died September 16, 2002. Stephen was a retired truck driver from Burney Brothers Bakery/Mary Ann Bakeries in Chicago, IL. He enjoyed going to the riverboat to gamble. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was a father figure to many. Survivors include three daughters, Anna (Arne) Nilsen of Bergen, Norway; Karen (Thomas) Kruse of Sterling, IL; and Eva Benda of Morrison, IL; one son, Stephen Benda III of Villa Park, IL; seventeen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Astrid; one granddaughter, Pearl Mist Kruse in infancy; one grandson, Lars-Johan Nilsen; one great grandson, Vicente Tomas Kruse in infancy.
