Obituary for Shelly R. VenHuizen
SHELLY R. VENHUIZEN, 57, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Father Matthew Camaioni, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday March 19, 2018 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

Shelly was born September 5, 1960 in Clinton, IA, to Donald J. and Carol A. (Yarbrough) Hook. She was educated in the Fulton grade schools and attended Fulton High School. She married Paul L. VenHuizen on December 17, 2005 in Fulton. Shelly was first employed at Fulton Corporation and later was employed at Drives, Inc. in Fulton, for eleven years. She loved cooking, baking and listening to the Bee Gees. She enjoyed bicycling, was an artist and an avid reader. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Paul; one daughter, Amy (Rob) Pilkinton of Mississippi; her mother, Carol Hook, of Fulton; two step-sons, Derek VenHuizen of Fulton and Adam (Michelle) VenHuizen of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Pamela (Rick) Gabel of North Platte, NE and Becky (Nick Sylvester) McGinty of Freeport, IL; two brothers, Ronald (Marge) Hook and Kurt (Tammy) Hook, both of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Hook; maternal grandparents, Howard and Della Yarbrough; paternal grandparents, Peter and Winifred Hook.
