Obituary for Sharon J. Ottens
SHARON J. OTTENS, 64, of 509 W. Morris Street, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at her home. Sharon was born January 23, 1946, in Morrison, IL, to Henry and Effie (Brondyke) Dornbush. She was educated in the Fenton Grade School and was a 1964 graduate of Erie High School, Erie, IL. She married David A. Ottens on November 11, 1978 in Fulton, IL. Sharon was first employed by the former Volckmann"s Furniture Factory in Morrison, and along with her husband Dave, she worked as custodian for the former Smith Trust and Savings Bank in Morrison. Most recently she was employed as a housekeeper by the Alverno Healthcare Facility in Clinton, IA. Sharon was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL and assisted annually with planting flowers at the church. She also operated "Gifts From The Heart" gift shop along with her husband. She greatly enjoyed baking cookies for church and community functions. Many people would also receive the gift of her baked goods. Survivors include her husband, David; two sisters, Helen Port of Morrison, IL and Phyllis Geerts of Albany, IL; four brothers, Eugene (Betty) Dornbush of Albany, IL, Harlan Dornbush of Erie, IL, Lester (Julia) Dornbush of Fulton, IL, Allen P. Dornbush of Albany, IL; mother-in-law, Margaret Ottens of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by one son, Brian Michael Ottens; three sisters, Kathryn Dornbush, Audrey Sikkema and Shirley (Sharon"s twin) in infancy; one sister-in-law, Catherine Dornbush.
