Obituary for Sharon F. Appel
SHARON F. APPEL, 78, of Morrison, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Morrison Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2023 at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, with Mr. Ken Renkes officiating. There will be no visitation; interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established to Ebenezer Reformed Church.
Sharon was born July 4, 1945 to Jay and Grace Louise (Juist) Newendyke in Morrison. She was a graduate of Thomson High School in Thomson, IL. On November 19, 1965 she married LeRoy J. Appel in Morrison. Sharon dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker, finding joy in raising her children and supporting her husband on their farm. She was involved with various churches and was currently an active member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, where Sharon contributed to various church activities, including Ladies Aid.
Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; three sons, Randy Appel of Thomson, IL, Brian (Christi) Appel of German Valley, IL and Dale (Angela) Appel of Thomson, IL; nine grandchildren, Leslie, Haley, and Justin Appel; Tommy and Samantha Appel; Megan (Alex) Haffey, Hunter, Logan and Ethaniel Appel; two great granddaughters, Rylan and Decklynn Haffey.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her twin daughters, Margaret and Nancy, in infancy, and her brother, Ronald Newendyke.
