Obituary for Sebert H. Dykstra
SEBERT H. BUD DYKSTRA, 84, of 201 Baker Street, Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at his home. Sebert was born August 27, 1925 in Thomson, IL, to Bernie and Minnie (Schipper) Dykstra. He was educated in the Thomson Grade Schools. He married Phyllis I. Geerts on September 16, 1946 in Fulton, IL. Sebert farmed in the rural Chadwick and Thomson, IL areas. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as a deacon. He also served on the Thomson School Board. Sebert was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau and Commissioner for the York-Savanna Drainage District. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Phyllis and family. He was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Melissa J. (Dan) Medendorp of Fulton, IL; six sons, Ronald E. (Marcia) Dykstra of Thomson; Kenneth D. (Debra) Dykstra of Fulton; Roger L. (Gayle) Dykstra of Thomson; Ernie P. (Paula) Dykstra of Thomson; Sammy J. (Ruby) Dykstra of Mt. Carroll, IL; and Mark A. (Ann) Dykstra of Thomson; twenty-two grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred W. (Donna) Dykstra and Bernard Dykstra both of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy; one granddaughter, Angie Dykstra in infancy; one great grandson, Isaac Dykstra; one sister in infancy and twin brothers in infancy.
