Obituary for Ruth Mickley
RUTH MICKLEY, 97, of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Allure of Prophetstown.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 11 ,2022, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church, with Rev. Joey Garcea officiating. The visitation will precede the service starting at 9:00 AM until the start of the funeral. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Memorials have been established to Prophetstown United Methodist Church Women’s Circle and Winning Wheels.
Ruth was born September 25, 1925, in Hume Township, Whiteside County, IL, to Ralph and Iva (Johnson) Brown. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools and was 1943 graduate of Rock Falls High School. She married David Mickley on November 27, 1943, in Tampico, IL. He died October 2, 1987. Ruth was a homemaker and helped run the family farm. She was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church where she was very active and served on many committees. Ruth and her husband, David, were also very active in the organization and establishment of Winning Wheels. She enjoyed bingo and visiting with her friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Leo) Rienstra and Karen Gilbert, both of Polo, IL; two sons, Ron (Ginny) Mickley of Prophetstown, IL and Joe (Jackie) Mickley of Geneseo, IL; special nephew, Kevin (Marcia) Mickley of Viola, IL; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; one daughter, Susan Wade; one son-in-law, Steve Gilbert; three sisters, Dorothy Wagenknecht, Marge Wetzell and Mary Gerdes; one brother John Brown.
