RUTH L. LETCHER, 87, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Addington Place of Clinton in Clinton, IA.
Her memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Fulton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Catherine Martin, pastor of Fulton Presbyterian Church, officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Fulton Food Pantry and Fulton Presbyterian Church.
Ruthie was born February 4, 1937, in Pearl City, IL, to Ralph A. and Esther M. (Ernest) Brinkmeier. She was educated in the rural Carroll County grade schools and was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Carroll High School in Mt. Carroll, IL. She married Larry L. Letcher on August 7, 1960, in Morrison, IL. He died April 23, 2015. Throughout her life, Ruthie touched the hearts of many. She began her career as a waitress at the former Bush’s Café and Gene’s Tap, both in Fulton, before dedicating her time to the Fulton Meat Locker, where her warm smile greeted customers. She was a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church. Ruthie had many talents and interests, she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, camping, reading and playing dominos with her neighbors. She cherished time spent with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Deb Gramer of Fulton, IL and Dawn (Harry) Petersen of Morrison, IL; one son, Wesley (Michelle) Letcher of Fulton, IL; six grandchildren, Brandon Gramer, Jesse Gramer and Rachel Gramer, Nicole Petersen and Neil Petersen and Nathan Letcher; six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Doyle Brinkmeier of Ramona, CA, Gene (Lynn) Brinkmeier of Carmelo, CA, LaVerne “Pete” (Goldie) Brinkmeier of Rock Falls, IL, Gary (Janann) Brinkmeier of Pace, FL and Myrnice Brinkmeier of Davis, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; one sister, Linda Hafer; three brothers, Dale Brinkmeier, David Brinkmeier and Dean Brinkmeier; one son-in-law, Thomas Gramer.
