Obituary for Ruth Elizabeth Mills
RUTH ELIZABETH MILLS, 102, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, died Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Resthave.
There will be no services at this time. Per her wishes, Ruth’s body will be donated to the Deeded Body Program of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
Ruth was born April 2, 1920 in Paxton, IL to Johan Alfred and Walborg Marie (Norman) Svensen. She was a 1938 graduate of Elgin High School in Elgin, IL, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from Northern IL State Teachers College in DeKalb, IL. On October 19, 1946 she married Wilbur D. Mills, Jr. in Elgin. He died October 21, 2001. Ruth taught speech and English at Morrison High School for many years. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, PEO, and the former Morrison Country Club. She served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and also enjoyed directing theatrical plays at the high school.
Survivors include one son, Howard (Pat) Mills of Morrison; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wilbur Jr.; two sons, Bruce and John Mills; two sisters, Aina Davis and Agnes Trumble.
