Obituary for Ruth Elaine Meyer
RUTH ELAINE MEYER, 72, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Resthave Home in Morrison, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Brad Wilson, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sterling, IL. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 18th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fenton Cemetery in Fenton. A memorial has been established.
Ruth was born June 20, 1948, in Forest City, IA, to Emil and Sophia (Harringa) Oudekerk. She was educated in the Fenton, IL grade school and graduated from Morrison High School. On September 12, 1971 she married Douglas Meyer in Fenton, IL. He died January 30, 2011. Ruth was employed at Markman Peat in Fenton. She was a former member of the Fenton United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school from 1972 to 2016. She also taught Vacation Bible School and helped her husband, Doug, with head usher duties. She enjoyed canning, sewing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending their various activities they were involved in.
Survivors include one daughter, Pamela (Larry) Eads of Fenton; four grandchildren, Noah (fiancée Sydney Shearer) Eads, Abigail Eads, Sophia Eads and Caleb Eads; one sister, Mary (Robert) Huggins of Fenton; four brothers, David Oudekerk of Morrison, Harvey (Trish) Oudekerk of Yuma, AZ, Larry Oudekerk of Morrison and Gary Oudekerk of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doug; two brothers, Albert and Leroy Oudekerk.
