Obituary for Ruth Arlene Wolever
RUTH ARLENE WOLEVER, 86, of Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon, IL. Ruth was born August 13, 1922 in Osco, IL to William and Octavia (DeClercque) Hoogerwerf. She was educated in the Prophetstown Grade Schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1940. She married Dean Dorathy on March 13, 1943. She later married Robert D. Wolever on February 8, 1974 in Erie, IL. He died March 8, 2001. She worked with Dr. Isaac Vandermyde until WWII. She later worked for Herman Gentz Buick Dealership in Prophetstown, IL. Ruth was a member of St. Catherine"s Catholic Church and a member and treasurer of the church"s Altar Society. She had also taught religious class at the church. She had served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and had been president of the band parents at the high school. She was a member of the Prophet Hills Country Club and enjoyed golfing, reading, and sewing. A memorial has been established by the family. Survivors include two daughters, Constance Dorathy of Portland, OR and Dawn (Lee) Naffziger of Sterling, IL; one son, William (Sandra) Dorathy of Lyndon, IL; five grandchildren, Gina (Keith) Lane, Steven Hartman, Kevin (Marcia) Hartman, Lisa Naffziger, and Amy Naffziger; five great grandchildren; four step children; twelve step grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Naomi Buck. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Robert; two sisters, Valerie Lindberg and Diane Hoogerwerf; and one brother, Robert Hoogerwerf.
