Obituary for Ruby D. Doden
RUBY D. DODEN, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the nursing home. Ruby was born May 25, 1917, in Savanna IL, to Clarence and Frances (Schroeppel) Doty. She was educated in the Savanna grade schools and graduated from Savanna High School in 1934. She married Merle E. Doden on September 29, 1935, in Morrison, IL. He died August 12, 1994. Ruby was employed by the former Wilkens Royal Blue Grocery Store in Morrison, IL and later Climco, also in Morrison, until retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison and belonged to the church"s Presbyterian Women"s Association. She was a member of the Morrison Community Hospital Auxiliary and a life member of the Morrison P.T.A. Ruby was an avid bowler and loved to travel with family friends. She was known for her apple pie and peanut squares. Survivors include two sons, Burnell "Skeet" (Pat) Doden of Lehigh Acres, FL and Gary (Lorraine) Doden of Cortland, IL; five grandchildren, David (Diane) Doden, Jeff (Starlett) Doden, Julie (Ron) Eriksen, Angela (Anthony) Yench, Adam Doden; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Glen Doty of Winterhaven, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; five sisters, Mildred Weidman, Almeta Cottral, Dorothy Viele, Mary Fredrich, Helen Mae Haufman; five brothers, Alfred, Harold, Paul, Rex and Wayne Doty.
