Obituary for Roy Osteen
ROY OSTEEN, 83, of Lyndon, IL, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, at his home.Roy was born September 4, 1933, in Davenport, IA, son of Richard E. and Ruth E. (Woodward) Osteen. He graduated from Lyndon Community High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he worked briefly for Sutton Brothers Construction Company. From there, he worked various jobs. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1971 and upon retiring, he leased a Gulf Service Station between 1971 and 1977. He and his brother, Dick, formed an import company for the purpose of importing Lecarra Sport Steering Wheels. This company did a million dollars worth of business in the first five years of operation. Roy sold the company in 1987, sold company access in 1990, and moved back to his home town of Lyndon, IL. He then married Jeanne Lewis. He became involved in every community affair possible, serving as secretary of Prophetstown-Lyndon Chamber of Commerce, president of Lyndon Historical Society, co-chairman of Lyndon Industrial Development Committee, president of the Crow Festival Committee, secretary and president of Lyndon Township.Survivors include his wife, Jeanne K. Osteen; one daughter, Natalie Osteen-Velasquez (Arthur) Velasquez of Chula Vista, CA; one son, David Osteen of Chula Vista, CA; six stepchildren; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Mick Brant of Las Vegas, NV; and one sister, Trudy A. Carra of Colorado Springs, CO.Astepdaughter, Lacy Lewis and granddaughter, Cadance were residing at home with him.He was preceded in death by one son, Roy Jr.; two wives, Nancy Jo and Martha A.; and one brother, Dick Osteen.
