Obituary for Roy M. Hook
ROY M. HOOK, 88, of Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, IL, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the nursing home. Roy was born August 23, 1921 in Morrison, IL, to Ralph and Kate (Bielema) Hook. He was educated in the rural Carroll County grade schools and attended Thomson High School. He married Clara A. Leslein on February 11, 1950 in Mt. Carroll, IL. She died February 1, 2005. Roy farmed in the Mt. Carroll, IL area. He then was employed as a truck driver and later worked for both the Burlington and Milwaukee Railroads. Most recently, he was employed as a carpenter for a local union. Roy was a member of the Savanna Bible Church in Savanna, IL. Survivors include one son, Thomas (Ellen) Hook of Rockford, IL; two granddaughters, Susan (David) Crum of Greenville, NC and Debra (Robert) Schwarzlose of Woodlawn, IL; five great grandsons, Zachary, Dylan and Tyler Crum, Justin and Logan Schwarzlose; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Ditsworth of Mt. Carroll, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, and two brothers, Ernest and Alvin Hook.
