Obituary for Roxie B. Carlson
ROXIE B. CARLSON, 85, of 3099 Palmer Road, Albany, IL, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Alverno Health Care Center in Clinton, IA. Roxie was born September 26, 1926 in Burnhamville, MN to Peter J. and Julia C. (Smith) Peterson. She was educated in the Burtrum Grade Schools in Burtrum, MN and was a 1944 graduate of Grey Eagle High School in Grey Eagle, MN. She attended Minneapolis Business School. She married Warren Dean Carlson on June 6, 1948 in Burtrum, MN. He died March 23, 1997. Roxie first worked for the Registrar of Deeds in Long Prairie, MN. Later she was employed by General Electric in Morrison and also worked as an Avon Representative. Roxie was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA, the church"s Tuesday Morning Bible Study and Manna Ministry. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher, Greeter, and participated in the Prayer Chain. Roxie enjoyed playing games, doing crafts, word search puzzles and reading her Bible. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Stan) Warren and Kim (Ron) Matje both of Fulton, IL; four sons, Herb (Mary) Carlson of Fulton, IL; Peter (Kathy) Carlson of Stephenville, TX; David (Michelle) Carlson of Stephenville, TX; and Dan (Susan) Carlson of Fulton, IL; fourteen grandchildren, Julie Warren, Amanda Warren, Jared (Beth) Matje, Samantha (Joshua) Crenshaw, Monica (Fiance - Wayne Walston) Matje, Elisabeth (Tony) Rupe, Matthew (Robin) Carlson, Justin Carlson, Jeff Carlson, Christal Higgins, Jordan Higgins, Lucas Hackbarth, Matthew Hackbarth, and Lindsey Carlson; six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Dean Carlson; one sister, Eva Peterson; and one brother, Lloyd Peterson.
