Obituary for Rosie J. Meier
ROSIE J. MEIER, 80, of 320 Woodlawn Drive, Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at her home. Rosie was born June 2, 1931, in Lincoln, IL, to John and Beatrice (Brown) Redshaw. She was educated in the Prophetstown grade schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School. She married Gordon "Skeeter" Meier on April 20, 1952 in Prophetstown. He died July 4, 2002. Rosie first worked at the Eclipse Lawnmower Factory in Prophetstown. She then owned and operated along with her husband, Skeeter, Meier"s Market grocery store and later worked for Rock River Lumber and Grain, both in Prophetstown. She was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, and enjoyed painting, ceramics, crocheting, and cooking for her family. Everyone enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies. She also very much enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Gareth) Bevard of Roswell, GA; one son, Keith (Lauri) Meier of Lyndon, IL; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Kevin) Dillard, Dustin (fianc"e Amanda Miller) Bevard, Amanda (Joe) Hendrix, Michael (Jodi) Meier, and Andrew (Justine) Meier; two step grandchildren; Dawn (Chris) Altman and Cole Temple; ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Skeeter; two sisters, Frances Decker and Vernabel Thormahlen.
