Obituary for Ronald Port
RONALD G. PORT, 72, of 509 6th Avenue North, Lyndon, IL, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. Ron was born August 1, 1935 in Morrison, IL, to Ren and Jennie (Bush) Port. He was educated in the Lyndon, IL grade and high schools. He married Janet E. Pidde on June 3, 1955 in Clinton, IA. Ron was engaged in farming in the rural Lyndon, IL area. He also was employed by the former Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as an engineer, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He collected and restored antique tractors. He was also an amateur boat builder. Survivors include his wife, Janet; one daughter, Rhonda (Mrs. Larry) Marshang of Lyndon, IL; one son, Gary (Glynis) Port of Lyndon, IL; five grandsons, Quinn & Logan Marshang; Heath Port, Lucas Port, and Clayton (Danielle) Port; and one sister, Nellie (Mrs. Marvin) Zaagman of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one great grandson, Samuel Port, and two sisters, Una Finnestadt and Dorothy Jane Port.
