Obituary for Ronald E. Zuidema
RONALD E. ZUIDEMA, 81, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 21, 2021 at the University of IA Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Grove Hill Cemetery with Mr. Ken Renkes officiating. There will be no visitation. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established by the family.
Ron was born June 13, 1939 in Morrison, IL to Glenn N. and Grace (Norman) Zuidema. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools of Union Grove and Prairie Center, and was a graduate of Morrison High School. On May 14, 1960 he married Patricia Ann Knox in Morrison; she died on May 25, 1990. He then married Jean Skyles in January of 1992 in Clinton, IA. Ron was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Morrison Fire Department for 25 years, and also was a Mason with the Morrison Dunlap Lodge #321 AF & AM. Ron enjoyed fishing and golfing and he was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter, Mary (Clair) Covell of Morrison; one son, Vincent (Sheila) Zuidema of Morrison; twin step daughters, Sherrie (Steve) Kopp of Daytona Beach, FL and Terrie (John) Petersen of Bryant, IA; one step son, Randy (Deb) Weller of Camanche, IA; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Pat (Lyle) Stoecker of Morrison and one brother, James G. (Trudy) Zuidema of Bettendorf, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark “Woody” Woodward; one grandson, Dylan Zuidema; one brother, Gerald Zuidema.
