Obituary for Ronald C. Workman
RONALD C. WORKMAN, 81, of Morrison, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, at his home. Ron was born October 12, 1931, in Moline, IL, to Clifford and Hettie (Yerkey) Workman. He was educated in the Fulton schools, in Fulton, IL. Ron was married to Shirley Mae King for 25 years. He was then married to Betty L. Houseman for 25 years. Later he married Gladys Robert, they were married for eight years. Ron began his career working as a truck driver with his father at Workman Trucking. He then worked for Freeport Fast Freight, Freeport, IL, and later at General Cartage of Rock Falls, IL. After his retirement he drove for Stralow Trucking and Elwyn Nice Trucking. He was a member of the Fulton Saddle Club and the Moose Lodge in Clinton, IA. Ron was also a member of various camping clubs. He loved to camp, and would spend winters at the Leisure World Community in Texas. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria (Robert) Carroll of Morrison, IL; one son, Michael Eugene (Nhat) Workman of Vietnam; four step children; four granddaughters, Ronnie Jean Carroll, Bobbie Jo Watkins, Terrie Jo Carroll, Tiffany Workman; one grandson, Christopher Shawn Carroll; several step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Dale (Jane) Workman of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; all three wives; one half sister, Jewel Knowles.
