Obituary for Rollin A. Heaton Jr.
ROLLIN A. HEATON, JR., 82, of 307 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL. Rollin was born January 8, 1930, in Galva, IL, to Rollin A. and Mabel (Nelson) Heaton. He was educated in the Kewanee Grade Schools and graduated from Kewanee High School in Kewanee, IL. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL with his Bachelor"s Degree and graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL with his Master"s Degree in Secondary Education. He married Barbara L. Krumtinger on July 11, 1953, in Kewanee, IL. She died December 17, 2007. Rollin taught business in the Prophetstown/Lyndon High Schools where he also was the golf and basketball coach. He also worked at Climco in Morrison, IL. Rollin was a member of the Morrison Country Club in Morrison and Prophet Hills Country Club in Prophetstown. He holds the record at the Prophet Hills Country Club for the most Club Championships. He holds the NAIA record for 36 hole score in golf. Survivors include five daughters, Jane Casanova of Moline, IL; Pat (Jim) Friedrichs of Sterling, IL; Susan (Neil) Dewey of Geneseo, IL; Paula (Rory) Fotzler of Lancaster, WI; and Amy (Bill) Jones of Prophetstown, IL; one son, Leo (Kim) Heaton of Prophetstown, IL; fourteen grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Janet Morris of Prophetstown, IL and Sandra (Pete) Reiff of Kewanee, IL; one brother, Jack (Kay) Heaton of Kewanee, IL; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Marion Collins of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; a daughter-in-law, Susan Heaton; a brother-in-law, Jim Morris; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Heaton.
