Obituary for Robert S. Tucker
ROBERT S. TUCKER, 90, of 300 Ash Avenue, Morrison, IL, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Robert was born August 29, 1918 in Clinton, IA, to Henry S. and Elizabeth J. (Slaymaker) Tucker. He was educated in the Spring Creek Grade School of rural Whiteside County. He attended Fulton High School and was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bob married Wilma L. Dykhuizen on August 18, 1942 in Erie. She died July 14, 2003. He later married Dorothy L. Bailey-Dykhuizen on November 26, 2005 in Garden Plain, IL. Bob was engaged in farming in the Garden Plain Township area for his entire life and also was employed by International Paper Company in Clinton, IA, retiring in 1980. He was a member at large of the American Legion, a member of the National Rifle Association, and was a founding member of the Tri-Township Heritage Society. He enjoyed gardening, fox hunting, and bird watching. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Linda (John) Port of Morrison, IL and Laurie (Mark) Spain of Winnebago, IL; five sons, Robert "Gene" (Jeanie) Tucker of Dallas, WI; Edward Tucker and Sandy Huisenga of Fulton, IL; Charles (Liz) Tucker of Fulton, IL; James (Darlene) Tucker of Albany, IL; and John (Mary) Tucker of Fulton, IL; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Tucker of Fenton, IL; two stepdaughters, Nadine Morgan of Mt. Morris, IL and Lois (Art) Barnhart of Dixon, IL; twenty-two grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and one brother, Harold (Annabelle) Tucker of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma; one son, William Tucker; one stepson, Richard Dykhuizen; and one granddaughter, Amanda Spain.
