Obituary for Robert Parkinson
ROBERT B. "BOB" PARKINSON, 88, of 602 N. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Bob was born October 1, 1919, in LeMars, IA, to Albert and Vivian (Gates) Parkinson. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. He married Viola M. Strock on December 29, 1945 in Sterling, IL. Bob farmed along with his wife in the rural Morrison area, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Morrison American Legion Post #328 and the Morrison VFW Post #8281. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and riding his motorcycles. Survivors include his wife, Viola; one daughter, Sue (Mrs. Arlyn) Ottens of Morrison; two sons, Kenneth (Deb) Parkinson of Erie, IL and Richard (Deb) Parkinson of Rock Island, IL; six grandchildren, Patricia (Mrs. Mitch) Renkes, Christopher Behrens, Jason Parkinson, Kelly Parkinson, Shellie Parkinson, Sonja (Mrs. Adam) Samek; seven step grandchildren, Bart (Cindy) Ottens, Brett Ottens, Nikki (Mrs. Mike) Arians, Stephanie (Mrs. Mark) Hartman, Sheila (Mrs. Rod) Oostenryk, Sara (Mrs. Pat) Young, Christopher Collings; two great grandchildren, Collin Renkes and Ezra Parkinson; two sisters, Thelma Conrady and Genevieve Piper. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alberta Loughe and Dorothy Bush; one brother, Donald Parkinson.
