Obituaries
ROBERT P. SIKKEMA, 96, of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton.
The funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral home, with retired pastor, Rev. John Byker officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 19th at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Clinton, IA or the charity of donor’s choice.
Bob was born April 2, 1923, in Fulton, IL to Joe J. and Gertrude (Wilkins) Sikkema. He was educated in the East Clinton Grade School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. On April 4, 1945 he married June I. Hoogheem in Fulton. She died February 27, 2014. Bob and his wife farmed in the Thomson and Cottonwood areas in rural Carroll and Whiteside Counties. He was also employed by Drives Inc. in Fulton. Later he worked for Case IH in East Moline, IL, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as an elder and a deacon. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and the U.A.W. Local 1304 in East Moline.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Kay (Hans G.) Dransfeld of Huntington, WV; two sons, Bruce W. (Betty) Sikkema of Thomson, IL and Clark (Donna Duvall) Sikkema of Spragueville, IA; nine grandchildren, Robert B. (Trisha) Sikkema, Bhrett (Marycat) Sikkema, Lisa Davis, Jonathan Sikkema, Tristan (Joni) Sikkema, Evan (Cassie) Sikkema, Thomas Dransfeld, Paul Dransfeld, and Maggie Dransfeld; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Willis (Lois) Sikkema of Fulton, IL and Arnold (Roberta) Sikkema of Thomson, IL.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife and one granddaughter, Maya Banowitz; one sister, Wilma Jean Stadt.
